Buses carried 16.8 million passengers in 2003/04 in Cambridgeshire. Cambridge is one of the few places in the UK where bus patronage is increasing.
Promoting Bus Travel
In promoting bus travel in your travel plan it is important to:
- Be positive about bus travel
- Try taking the bus to work yourself
- Know where the nearest bus stops are
- Know which routes serve your site and have bus timetables easily available
- For printed timetables for your workplace please either:

- for 'subsidised services contact the County Council's Passenger Transport Team on 01223 714005 (the online timetable -see below - will tell you if the route is subsidised.)
- Provide link to online bus timetables on company intranet
You could consider offering:
- A free breakfast to bus users once a year.
- Loans for bus pass purchase
- Free bus travel for the first month.
- Longer term discounts

- Contact your business neighbours to see if there are any joint initiatives that you could implement
- Take up any complaints from your staff with the bus operators
- Ensure on-site paths and bus shelters are well maintained
