Getting Started with Travel Plans

A back of an envelope travel plan that has some effect is better than a plan of 200 pages that gathers dust on a shelf!

Having said that there is now a well tried method of developing travel plans that have real effect - at least an 18% shift away from drive alone commuting can be expected; TfW employers often do much better.

If you just wish to try an initiative at your site- promoting cycling or bus use for instance - there is no need for a full blown plan.

The best effect, however, is always achieved from a well researched and implemented travel plan. We're here to help you get there.

The Travel Plan Process

The following list is not exhaustive. It is in appropriate chronological order - but there will be much overlap. It will need adjusting dependent on your organisations individual circumstances

  • Determine your motivation for developing your plan
  • Must have senior management support senior management support
  • Allocate appropriate resource (mostly time - but some money too)
